Doug the Dog is one of the main characters in the Doug's 'N' Rachel's cast and the second main antagonist of Those Nights at Rachel's.

Appearance[]

Doug has golden eyes, a droopy left eyelid, two segmented floppy ears with pink inside of them, dog like sharp teeth, and eyebrows. Like Rachel, Doug has a yellow bow tie, attached by a small metal ring to a yellow collar. While most of his body is black, he has a white line that starts from his cheeks and snooze to the top of his head, accompanied with fur details on the edges, with the half of his arms and hands having this too. His stomach, jaw, paws, and knees are also colored white, but with no fur details. His hand has small pink animal paws, and the base of his feet are also colored pink. He also has a three segmented tail with a white line with fur details underneath, and black shoulder paddings separated from his torso. Like the rest of the animatronics, parts of his endoskeleton is visible through his body, most noticeable the interior of his mouth and shoulders.

During gameplay, once he leaves the stage his eyes turn black with white pupils, and in Hard Mode, like the rest of the characters, his pupils go from white to red, and his entire body is covered in a grunge texture.

Behavior[]

He will always start in the Stage, and like the others, he can be the first up to the last character to move from their initial position. He can randomly move to the Arcade Room 1, the Dining Area, or the South Hall, while never returning to the stage, sometimes laughing as he moves similarly to Rachel.

The player must often check the left doorway with the flashlight and, if he is there, close the doorway or hide under the desk until metallic footsteps are sometimes heard faintly, indicating that he has left, although these are not always heard. Otherwise, Doug will enter the office and jumpscare the player, ending the night.

Trivia[]

  • Due to a mistake when modelling Doug's model, a small metallic ring which belongs to his endo can be seen clipping though the ground in front of him near his feet anywhere he goes. This can be used to tell whenever Doug is at the doorway without using the flashlight.
    • However, this cannot be seen from any other angle, resulting in the player needing to peak to the left doorway anyway.
  • He is the only animatronic in the series to feature eyebrows.
  • Doug and Ray are the only characters to not have an E in their name.
  • Doug's coloration may suggest his breed is a Border Collie, or more commonly known as a "Sheep Dog".
  • Doug, Rachel, and Pete are the only characters to be featured in a poster.
  • Doug can sometimes be the one to arrive to the doorway the most often and sometimes getting stuck there the longest, one time even arriving and leaving three times in a row in the spawn of around 30 seconds.
  • Doug, Ray and Bane, similarly with Rachel and The Thing, are the only ones to share the same jumpscares sounds.
  • Doug's laughs heard through the game are actually slowed down edits of Rachel's laughs, some of these begin cropped and an extra one coming from the original free source, which Rachel does not use.
  • Like the others, the metallic steps that Rachel and the others do are, in exception of one, edited renditions from the metallic steps from Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
  • His second jumpscare ends up with punching the player in the face, which is the same jumpscare as Ignited Bonnie from The Joy of Creation, another popular game from Nikson.
  • Doug has had multiple cameos in other fangames, some begin Five Nights at Candy's 3 and Porkchop's Adventure.
  • The game's creator and a few other staff members have confirmed that Rachel and the rest of the cast are aroace, or in other words, unable to feel any sort of attraction to anyone else.
    • However this is satire, and was only a joke for trolling.
    • Similarly, Nikson also said that all the Doug 'N' Rachel's cast are "brothers and sisters" when approached about a fanfic ship from a fan.

Doug the Dog was going to return as the second main antagonist of Those Nights at Rachel's 2 prior to its cancellation.

Appearance[]

Like the others, his design is sliglty different from the one seen in the first game, as he has a complete different endoskeleton Compared to Rachel, he is in a much more destroyed state, completly missing the entire suits of his left legs, right hand, and the middle segment of his tail. He's also missing his left ear

Trivia[]

  • While not fully confirmed, it is likely that his 3D model is lost media.
